Introduction
Banbury & District Canoe Club was founded in 1977, and moved to
its current location of Cropredy Wharf in 1988. The clubhouse is
situated in pleasant surroundings alongside the Oxford canal. The club has been awarded the Sport England clubmark and the British canoe Union's Top Performance Club and Top Community Club awards for the quality of its coaching, and was name BCU Club of the Year 2006. . The club is privately run and has a warm and friendly atmosphere, welcoming new and prospective members. As well as canoeing, members enjoy a range of social activities organised within the club.
All levels of paddler are catered for and the club welcomes families
and youngsters, to introduce them to the activity. Our
coaches are
qualified by the British Canoe Union, and we run regular courses for
beginners, both adults and children. Beginner Courses Equipment The club has full equipment for new and prospective members to use, including those taking part in courses offered by the club. New members are encouraged to use club boats, buoyancy aids and paddles, whilst more experienced paddlers may purchase their own. Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times until a high level of proficiency has been reached. Clothing No special clothing is required, and sweatshirt and bottoms worn with a pair of light trainers or plimsolls are adequate. Paddlers should bring a cagoule in case of inclement weather, a towel and a complete change of clothing. Competition Touring & Social Code of Practice |
